I was wondering if the 99 service manual would suffice for a 2000 model, or are they drastically different?

Exactly the same other than some minor changes for the entertainment center and the split heat option on some models.

Unless you mean the manufacturers repair manual, the Haynes Venture/Montana/Silhouette (and Trans Sport) repair manual covers 1997 thru 2001. Haynes manual #38036

Its hard for me to say what will be the same in newer models and what will be outdated. The book is intended only for '99. That said, I know the 2000 model is almost the same other than updates to the cell phone/onstar system and audio systems. By 01 model years, they added the dual temp option on the front hvac for driver/passenger so that would be different.


I've worked on the brakes/suspension on an '02 chevy and it was exactly the same as my '99, but I have seen '04 olds models on the road with individual rear wheel suspension and I know that's not covered in these books. Not sure what years that was offered (not sure I'd want it either).

Guess you just need to know what changed over the model years and what stayed the same.:)
