Front End Slips In 4lo any ideashulkmn069 09-19-2008, 09:39 AM it's an 04 with np242 and when i get into the gas in 4lo the front end disengages and it starts clicking. if i put it into reverse and go back for a second you'll hear the clunk of it re engaging and it will go fine unless i have to give it a good bit of gas again. i think this is an adjustment problem somewhere but what do i adjust. it works fine in 4 part or full time but some of the stuff i've gone through it doesn't cut it and you need lo. the only problem is when it decides not to work in the middle of a sandy bottom creek i get nervous as my floor boards start to get more saturated. hulkmn069 09-23-2008, 01:30 AM no one has any ideas. come on is it broken, out of adjustment, being dumb, something like that. gatoratoy227 09-23-2008, 11:23 PM it could potentialy be a vicsous coupling if the t-case has one reekor 09-24-2008, 03:16 AM No vicsous coupling in a 242, it's a manual shift t-case. it could potentialy be a vicsous coupling if the t-case has one bigd7315 09-28-2008, 10:45 PM my guess would be a couple of gears broke off the ring gear in front diff hulkmn069 09-29-2008, 03:38 PM i think it would make some pretty consistent noise if that were the case. What noise it does make all comes from the t-case and it's not loud dksob81 09-30-2008, 06:59 AM Yes sounds like you shifter linkage is out of adjustment. Underneath the jeep you will 2 rods, 1 goes from the shifter to the intermediate shaft, then the other goes from the intermediate shaft to the shift lever on the transmission, well you will see the bolt on the rods that you will have to loosen and slide the rods to get your adjustement. but chances are the rods will be rusted up a good bit. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
