The OEM antenna on my friend's '93 Toyota Corolla had been broken-off, and I thought I'd be nice & replace it for them.
So, while @ the junk yard the other day, I happened to see one in decent condition and began to uninstall it. After unscrewing the ant. mount from the outer upper-left A-Post, (SEVERAL frustrating minutes later) I found that taking ONLY the antenna-mast was difficult, if-not impossible, so I decided that I'd have to take the entire assembly (mount [gasket, 2 screws, washers] with the mast's plastic cover/sheath and coax cable, leading to the back of the stereo head unit.
I disconnected the coax connector from the back of the stereo, but was unable to pull the cable through to the outside. I followed the cable from inside the car, as far as I could but, even after removing most of the driver's dash (INCLUDING speedometer assembly), I still couldn't see/feel where the connector was getting hung-up!!!
There seemed to be no choice but to cut the connector-off, and then reconnect it later, after reinstalling it into my friend's car.
My inexperience w/ this sort of thing has lead me HERE: now I don't know how I'm supposed to splice-in the 2-3 ft of coax & reattach the connector, that I cut!
