i know the basics of an engine and how they work, i just wanna learn virtually every litte part of the engine. how alternaters work, names of all the parts and what they do. anyone have anygood website?

and i just got a 99 saturn SL2 and im using that as my experiment car to learn everything

The next best way is to buy a Saturn that doesnt run, and dismantle the engine and transmission - with the intent of rebuilding them. This assumes you live in an area where you wont be hounded by the Zoning Police for violating some local ordinance.
The 3rd best way would be to buy an engine from a salvage yard, and bring it home, and rebuild it in the garage or basement. Thats mostly how I learned - broke a lot of parts in the process too.
