Im new to this form , i was sent here by word that you guys could help. I just got this crazy deal on the garage keep gsx. The issue at hand is that it has six bent valves. I think. When I turn the igniotion , it turns over it just doesnt start , kinda like its not firing. The owner replaced the timing belt and maybe some other things not sure. He said he blew and oil hose on the road and had it towed home. a month ago. His wife made him sell it . It a 1990 with 150,000 miles. Any suggestions on other things to check and replace or upgrade ? Im gonna pull the head tomorrow. Cams, springs , bigger , best brands or anyting to save trouble to come.

Welcome to AF!

If some of the valves are bent I would just rebuild the head and use the old cams and springs and all that shit as long as it is still good. No reason to upgrade unless your wanting a good big of power. And still there is other things that would benefit you more.

When you pull the head check all of your timing belt components and see if they have been replaced recently. 150k is way to many miles for the timing belt pulleys, tensioner, water pump, etc...

If he lost oil as he was driving I would be wondering if he did some damage to the bearings. So careful when you start it up again and listen for any strange noise.
