hi there guys, I'm trying to build up my first model and i've chosen a fujimi racing supra kit.
It was not a happy choice because the kit is very rough and I had to fix up a lot of things and for the first time is not so simple working with putty (which tool do u use to stend it?)
Here you can see the pic of the kit and the ones of the build in progress.http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo20/luchjeg6/DSC01216.jpg

Ok, now you can see how is the building up going, tell me advices, critics and everything that could help me please.

I HAVE A QUESTION: is this paint the same of the one that is on the real car?

Thank you for all guys, hope that my pics aren't too bad

The new rims are arrived just now...

Compared to the one provided with the kit.

Now I have just to paint them in plain white.

What do you guys think?

I have no idea about the French blue, looks colse enough for me :)

Which rims are the new ones? I take it there the white ones, those look sick.

I didn't understand how kind of help you're searching. Here, in the tutorial section, you'll find anything you need, from plastic prep to finishing. Everything less... someone that do the job for you.

There's a good forum here in ITA where people may help you in your motherlanguage.

Welcome aboard BTW

PS: new rims looks good for a 1/12 Skyline :D

yes, but I'd like to know if the colour I'm using matches the bijo supra's one and if a gray primer is good under that blue.
The rims look big just because the ones provided are good for a 1/43 skyline!!

best for you to test paint it. use some offcuts from the kit (ie- the tree of the parts) or use a plastic spoon, prime it and paint it and see if the result is what you are looking for.

+1 for the spoon idea.... The blue looks colse to me. You'll know soon enough lol

The body is going on to be puttied and sanded (it's a very huge work, I couldn't imagine before entering modeling).
now it's time for the interiors which, for one reason that I cannot understand, are the street type one, so i had to cut the backseat heads, but now I need help to go on. Please say me what to do. You can see all in the pics, also my attempt to scratchbuild a rollbar with sprues.:grinyes:

HI! You have to cover those holes with styrene and putty and (in my opinion) you should do something with backseat, it will look odd with rollcage and seats. Race cars are "empty" inside. I would leave the centre and cut out seats and replace them with styrene. Its an RWD car. I will find some photos later to show you what i mean. Shape of your cage isn't to good, best way to find out about it is to check threads with race cars to find an idea how it should be done. I know how hard it is to build something without pics. I'm trying to finish an Escort MKII I've start few months ago. Keep up working!
I found some pics of A group Supra. Maybe they're not to good but thats all i found. Hope it helps you!

Thank you very much, but just a question, where can I find styrene? And what's the best method toscratchbuild rollcages??

It depends where you from? You shouleasily find styrene in modeling shop or on the web. It's not expecive and you can pick wright thikness. For rollcage build you can use every thing that is wright size - piece of wire, styrene rods etc.

at the risk of sounding obvious, you can normally find modelling supplies in decent modelling shops....
have you checked in your local phone directory or online for stores near you?

My local hobby store says that he has just plastic sheets, are they good?

Yes, what they call plastic sheet is styrene, so called plasticard.

Is good for scratchbuilding, if you need tubes, this shop has both

Thank you for your advices. my local hobbystore has got plenty of styrene so I'll try to scratchbuilt the interiors these days; I post you pics of the actual progress.
can someone send me a draw where it is explained what I have to do?:naughty:
For covering the hole where was supposed to be glued the front badge
I used Mr white putty, but it never seems to become a smooth surface; after a night of rest it creats a hole and i can't completely cover it with primerhttp://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo20/luchjeg6/DSC01227.jpg

Start making templates with light cardboard, using the cockpit as a jig, draw the contour on the styrene and proceed assembling the various resultant panels. Look carefully at the precious refs posted by Brat R.

Little putty... and good luck !

hi! The only thing i would make different than Robi J pic is showing is the area behind seats. If you look carefully on pics i've send u you will see that it's bit higher.

That's the area marked on picture

I've painted the body, but I committed a mistake and I have 5 or 6 very little bubbles in the right door low section, how to erase them?

Some photos of your problem might help. Otherwise I can only advise you wet sand the area with a high grade then mist back on the colour coats, and to not paint on the coats so heavily next time.

Yeah right, i committed the error while i was painting the under of the body, this because i wasn't moving my hand while i pressed on the spray can nozzle:icon16::banghead:

I've got this kit and agree that the interior is completely wrong for the race version as are the AMG Mecedes wheels! (I used these on a road version of the old wedge shaped Celica Supra!) I am replacing the wheels with some Rennaisance Enkei style 18" wheels. What are the ones that you are using? Great progress so far!

Mine are Fujimi Mazdaspeed MS-01 Mag 17 inches.
I think that if you use the tyres provided with the supra kit they fit perfectly the arches.
