I have changed the control panel, both heater hoses are hot, the car comes up to temp but I did change the thermostat just incase. I'am thinking its the Blend Door? But have'nt found any info on what to check or how to repair. Any help would be great thanks Kev

See my post dated 08-20-2008. It's most probably the blend door motor. They use fancy "pulse count" motors.

I can only suggest that the motor on the blend door is checked. That was my problem on my 04 Malibu.

I just encountered this problem. 2005 Malibu Maxx - Fan blows fine - I get A/C, just can't get it to blow hot air. I thought it might have been a thermostat, but the shop just called me and said it was a Heater Motor Actuator (a whopping $240 for the part!) ouch.

I like my car - it gets the best mileage of any V6 I've had (25 city / 35 hwy), and it has power when I want it...but in addition to this heater problem, they are replacing AGAIN today (for the 3x) roters and brakes - I questioned it with the mechanic because they replaced them 2 yrs ago, but is said to ask any Chevy mechanic - that the Malibu Maxx eats them up. Now this sounds like a recall or some compensation should be in order for the owners of these cars. Or as my daughter would say... "that is just wrong".

I had a similar problem. After taking off the motor, I found that the motor worked in both directions, but the motor would not stop, just kept going.
I reads somewhere online that disconnecting the pos side of the battery for a couple of minutes will reset the pulse count. Just lucky I guess, it worked.
