High Idle

At times my `97 LeSabre would have a high idle after starting, but would drop down to normal within a few minutes. It did not matter whether the engine was cold or warmed up. After reading many posts on AF about this problem I decided to remove the IAC and give it an inspection. Upon removal I noticed right away a lot of carbon buildup, on the pintle, spring, and the inside of the TB where the IAC fits. I gave everything a good cleaning with MAF cleaner and reassembled, no more high idle problems!! This issue is in many posts on here, but I just wanted to pass along how simple this fix is to cure a nagging high idle. There are of course other issues that will cause a high idle (found that out from a defective o-ring on the MAP), but this one is easy to check.
I owe a lot of thanks to the great members on here, especially the modulators for the help they have provided.

Thanks for the feed back, this is a common issue on most modern efi systems not just GM cars.
