I noticed when driving that the brakes would sort of not respond but then they would catch. I took off the rear brake drum with the noise i've been hearing in mind and then the brake pad fell off! It was only one of the two on the right side. It just baffles me how someone could think that GLUE is whats stopping you. I dunno if its a factory thing to glue the brake pads on but it just doesn't seem safe. I heard that you can rivet it on somehow so i'll have to check that out later.

Yup that'd do it.

brake shoes are either rivited or bonded.i have seen a bonded shoe fall apart due to heat.its not real common but have seen it more than once over the years.lucky you found it before it became a serious problem

Yeah i was kinda surprised that the brake pad wasn't even damaged. They still have a lot of life left but i think i'll buy new pads anyway and get those riveted on this time. I just couldn't drive the thing knowing that GLUE is essentially what's stopping me!

Once a bonded shoe has separated, it's toast - does not matter how much life was left.

I prefer riveted pads/shoes for that very reason. You will note that all high performance brake parts are riveted.

OEM shoes have rivets.....non oem are usually glued ...I have used both never heard of the glue failing...

OEM shoes are big bucks...

perhaps the drum ridge was a factor in the failure..
