I have an Cutlass Ciera 1996. I tried to get it inspected today. They won't even look at the car til I get the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT fixed. What could be causing the light to not come on when I turn on the car? Is there an easy fix. Thanks so much.

Welcome to AF, and what is the code? How do you plan on getting an answer here with no info?

We tore the dash apart and replaced the bulb which was definately blown out. We attatched the dash cluster again and noticed that the Service Engine Soon light does now come on. Now it seems that the light does not want to go out when I turn the car on. I am either assuming that it needs to reset itself or that I do indeed need to take the car to Auto Zone and get a reading that will produce the code you are speaking of.

At Pepboys they did not even run diagnostic. They would not touch the car when they noticed the Service Engine Soon Light was not lighting.
I will keep in touch and let you know anymore information I find out.
