91' coolant problem

I recently replaced the head gasket on my 91' 1500. The reason it went bad in the first place is because my thermostat was stuck and my engine overheated. well today was the first time i drove it since and the thermostat was still removed just because i was going to drive it a bit to make sure everything was ok. When i got home there was coolant pouring out from the upper hose that goes to the thermostat. Is that just a dumb mistake on my part or is it a sign of bigger problems.

If there was a lot of pressure in the system causing the leak, it could be a bad cap. Unfortunately, it could also mean that there is an exhaust leak into the cooling system. Did you have the heads checked for cracks?

im not sure if the head is cracked how would i know what i also noticed is that the side of the radiator that comes from the thermostat side is always how and has pressure but the side that goes into the water pump stays cooler and when it overheats all of the coolant drains from the radiator but the thermostat side still has pressure and is still hot while the water pump side cools and have no pressure in it i can take the radiator cap off with nothing happening while it is hot

Sure sounds like the radiator is clogged to me.
