New PA owner with transmission shudder

Hi guys,
I just bought a 1994 PA with 109K miles. It runs great as long as you don't get into the thottle too hard. I can graduallyget to any speed and the trans shifts through all gears. If I stomp the pedal to pass for instance the car shudders. I switch from OD to 3rd and the same happens but a little less harsh.
I read the thread in the Lesabre forum the talks about a kit to do a pan drop a shift kit on a 4T65E. I believe my 94 has a 4t60E. Is there a kit for this as well? I will pull codes tomorrow but does this problem sound like I need the pan drop and shift kit?

See if you have any DTC's first, if possible. This could be an ignition related problem, either in the primary or secondary side. In addition, check fuel pressure. When was the last time you installed a new fuel filter, or wires and plugs?

I have only owned the car for 2 days so I never have changed filter or wires. As I have been researching 4t60e trannys I see a lot of caddy owners talking about "the hunting effect" saying as the car gets older the TCC torque converter are trying to compensate for clutch wear.

If you are convinced you have a trans problem, get a full trans scan, that will the story. If you “switch from OD to 3rd and the same happens but a little less harsh.shift”, that seems to indicate misfire. This particular car has a DIS ignition system and it is notorious for misfire shudders. Check and replace all the simple thing first. If you actually do have TC shudder, it might be better to look for another car. Transaxle/TC problems can be very expensive to repair.

There are a lot of things that can make the car feel like it has a Trans issue...

First you will want to make sure the car is in a good state of tune... Plugs, Wires, Fuel filter, air filter.... So on and so on...

You will also want to see if the PCM has stored any codes as well... The MIL or SES is not lit for all problems or issues...

There are some things that need to be looked at or checked..

If you know of anyone with a Scan Tool that will read the 94 OBD1 GM, Scan the car and see what the Slip RPMs are while you are in 3rd or 4th gear with TCC ON, and PWM 100%... Also note the Transmission Temps...

There are a number of different things that can be happening here, you will need to knock them out one by one.. There is a lot of good advice in this thread..:)

THanks. I am going to put new filters, plugs and wires on tomorrow as they look pretty old. I have a scan tool so I'll pull codes as well.
