89 Cutlass Ciera won't startDJGroove 08-27-2008, 11:59 AM Ok fellas, I had too many problems with this car. Last week I was at a light and the harmonic balancer fell off! On top of that I was on my way to get the brakes fixed! Ok, I got both of those fixed, but now for some reason my car won't turn over. My mechanic was telling me to check the crank sensor near the harmonic balancer. I looked, but really I don't know exactly where it is. Also he asked me to check the fuses, which I did and they are all working. Where is the fuse for the fuel pump? And exactly where is the fuel pump on a 89 Cutlass Ciera? I need some help pronto! maxwedge 08-27-2008, 05:07 PM Welcome to AF, lets start with what engine? DJGroove 08-27-2008, 05:13 PM Welcome to AF, lets start with what engine? Sorry I am a newbie to this. 3.3 liter engine. Like I stated we just changed the harmonic balancer last wk and I was wondering if the sensor was damaged would that prevent the car from starting? maxwedge 08-27-2008, 08:13 PM The balancer may have damaged the crank sensor or hit it and bent the bracket way, if you have no spark and/or injector pulse, focus on the cps. DJGroove 08-28-2008, 01:18 PM Everytime I try to take the bolt to the harmonic balancer off, it keeps turning! How do I make it stop so I can take the bolt off? Also, will the Crank Position Sensor cause my car not to start? maxwedge 08-28-2008, 03:52 PM Yes it will not start if bad, check what I told you first, I use an impact gun, or remove the flywheel shield and block the ring gear on the fly wheel to hold the crank. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
