Sounds simular to my problem, i have a 94 ultra, idle and crusing runs great, sometimes (not allways) under heavy acceleration it starts sputtering, but like someone is triping a switch on and off, on being 240 hp and off like 40. on steep hills the car will shake if i dont take it out of overdrive. sorry i cant be of any help but if you figure it out let me know. things i've done to try and fix it, replaced fuel filter, O2 sensor, plugs, wires, ignition module ($$ ouch), replaced vacumm hoses (many rotting but didnt help). Problem for me seems to occure after engine has warmed up, if i stand on the throttle withen 5 min of starting cold engine the car takes off like scared rabbit. 20 min later try and pass someone and have problems. also seems to be ok if i keep rpm below 3k, say using max 30 - 40 % throttle. has yet to produce an error code or turn on check engine light. good luck to you

Several possibilities exist here, like the MAF, EGR, FPR, fuel pressure, TPS, or MAP (if used). I would clean the MAF wire first and see what it does. Both of the cars mentioned, need to be hooked up to a live data scanner and driven while monitoring each sensor under acceleration. Replacing parts while guessing at what the problem is can be very expensive.

Thanks for the tips. I believe I know what all the acronems are except for FPR, TPS I've checked with a multimeter and appears good. Not sure where the EGR is located or how to check/test it. I'll clean the MAF (mass air flow) tomorrow and see if any improvement. Not sure if there is a MAP sensor or where whould be located on this car. Thanks again for the suggestions.
