93 cv tranny or engine problem???

I got a 93 crown vic from father in dec of last year. He has done all the work on it prior to this. Have had ongoing problems like has to warm up for 10 min before driving and will sometimes die at stop lights(on take off attempt). However the other night, I was driving and it was like the car was all of the sudden in neutral. Engine would rev really high and not go anywhere unless in reverse or low(and in low only 5 mph). Had towed home, sat couple days, and husband started it up and drove it around the block. Not running right but not reving anymore, just lurching/lagging now. Could this be because spark plugs have never been changed? Dont know what to do with it at this point.:runaround:

I would do a tune up and get it running properly as sometimes they affect each other. Then if you need another transmission you can either get it rebuilt or buy a used one. The car has been neglected so long you probably have computer codes also.
