Oil Pressure Light

Ok so I've searched everywhere on here and can't find anything...Last night on the way back home from Pittsburgh, I noticed that my oil pressure light started blinking super fast. It doesn't come on and stay on, just blinks real fast. So I pulled over asap to find out what was going on. I checked the oil, it was full and clean. Nothing was leaking. Got back in the car, and the oil pressure seems normal at idle and throughout rpm's (have aftermarket gauge). WTF is goin' on here? Also, there are no odd sounds or noises from the engine. It sounds healthy and still runs like brand new.

Sounds like either a loose connection or sensor is going bad. If the aftermarket itself is working fine, then trust that one. I'm kinda surprised you still have the stocker in there.

The oils pressure sending unit that's connected to the oil filter housing has a small wire attatched to it. That's the light to your dash, check the connection and/or add a t-fitting and install an electric oil pressure sending unit so you can monitor your oil pressure.

Yeah not too long after posting this I figured out what it was. It was the wire for the dash light, it somehow came disconnected and was smacking off of my lower intercooler pipe. Forgot to jump back on here and tell you guys. Easy fix.

I've got a quick question. I have the glowshift electric oil pressure sensor and gauge that I just hooked up a few months ago. At idle it sits around 0psi? And it increases steadily with the increase in rpm. Does that sound right?

Never had that happen on mine. Sounds like maybe a loose connection also there.

Is it a full or short sweep electric gauge. Mine oil pressure is full sweep and has 10psi,20psi,etc. Mine sits around 10-20psi at idle. My buddy has a short sweep and it only has 25psi,50psi,etc. And his appears to sit around 0. When you turn the car off the gauge goes down more so the oil pressure really isin't at 0 it just looks like it. So this could be the problem your having.

If you really want to test it out get a cheap mech. pressure gauge from lowes and connect it up just to see what your getting at idle.
