Should I buy? Volvo failed emissions...hcgworkedforme 08-21-2008, 02:17 PM I am interested in a 2001 Volvo S40 from private party. It is in great shape, very low miles, and a good price. The Carfax is clean.... except... It failed emissions about 1 year ago. It passed a few days later. Is this a reason to avoid a car? I know it is hard to say without knowing more, but .... that's all I know right now. It is the only red flag. Is it a big red flag? I've noticed that a few of the volvos I've pulled a report on have failed emissions. Is this common for Volvo? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Yes it may be a good price - but if vehicle has issues after you take delivery then :banghead: "DO THE INSPECTION " it's peace of mind, if seller will not allow, you must walk away. hcgworkedforme 08-22-2008, 04:08 PM Thanks Ray. I will do that! Wish me luck! The Continental 09-02-2008, 03:11 PM It's not common for Volvo's, but it sure is for older model Cadillac's where I seen to many shady E Test's How old of Cadillacs? I've been told to stay away from 81-88, but any other particular years to be cautious about? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
