Program instructions for 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee remoteNugrl 08-21-2008, 11:22 AM Hello All! I am in search of the programming instructions for the keyless remote for my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have 1 working remote right now and was given a second one from the person I purchased the vehicle from, but I don't want to have to go back to the dealer and pay another $45 to get the second one programmed. I was told to google it, and have found several other vehicle program instructions, but not for the a 2004 jeep grand cherokee.... So does anyone out there know the programming procedure to do this yourself? any input is appreciated! Nugrl 08-21-2008, 04:45 PM or can anyone tell me how to add an additional remote to the one that is already working? Bob D. 08-22-2008, 09:44 AM Sorry, there is no way to self program the remote on your model, the dealership is your only option. Only keys can be programmed by the owner. Nugrl 08-22-2008, 03:49 PM What do you mean by the "key"? I already have one working remote, I just wanted to program the other one to work with my jeep. I have googled and googled and still have not come up with instructions for my 2004 jeep, but found a bunch of other ones. So I was hoping someone out there knows how to do this..... :shakehead Bob D. 08-22-2008, 09:08 PM What do you mean by the "key"? I thought I made myself perfectly clear; the reason you haven't found anything after you googled and googled for instructions is because of what I said in my first reply -- IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL, OTHER THAN A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, TO PROGRAM OR ADD YOUR NEW REMOTE, regardless IF YOU HAVE ONE OR A HUNDRED WORKING NOW! :banghead: By key I mean the thing you insert into the ignition to start the engine, by remote I mean the grey or black thing with buttons on it you use to lock/unlock the doors. Sorry if you don't like or won't accept my answer, but you will find out sooner or later on your own, I was just trying to save you some time, but that's looking like an effort in futility. legalfee 08-23-2008, 03:41 PM Bob, there are some hard-headed people on this forum that refuse to believe folks that know a whole lot more than they do. Or else cannot understand English. Geeez pay the man his $35 dollars and get the damn remote programmed. Stepping down from soap box... Nugrl 08-26-2008, 10:38 AM Wow, I am so sorry I asked. I didn't mean to insult anyones intelligence on here. Correct me if I am wrong, but, I thought that is what these forums are intended for.... to ask questions. The reason I said about googling for the instructions is that the dealer I bought the jeep from told me to google it instead of paying the "jeep" dealers prices. And I have come across alot of programming instructions, for different vehicles, including jeeps, but just not the one that I own. So, within my google results, I came across your forum here, and thats why I registered and posted my question. Obviously that was a mistake.......:disappoin Bob D. 08-28-2008, 11:50 PM Nugrl, I apologize if you thought my reply was a little harsh, but your response to my answer was a complete non sequitur so I thought a more straightforward description was in order. You didn't insult anyone's intelligence and posting here was not a mistake, you got the answer you were looking for and automotiveforums.com is an excellent source of information that you should use in the future if needed. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
