Engine Line On

Okay, I'm back! Anyway, let me break it down for ya'll:

Fuel pump done three months ago...one month later, engine light comes on. Turns out it's a smoke leak from my fuel tank, but the engine light turned off once testing was done.

Now as of yesterday (two months later), I turn my car on and all of a sudden it's back on. Same code, so it's another smoke leak. The people I took it to did a crappy job and I'm not going to them no more.

Any suggestions? Also note that I do need an EGR valve, but i wouldn't think that wouldn't have to do with anything. But any help is appreciated. Thanks!

440 code: It's saying something about the EVAP system. And NO my gas cap is not broken or loose.

Code refers to a leak in the evap system which can be anywhere, starting with a bad gas cap seal, if the fault is not a visible rust thru or break in one of the components, then usually a smoke machine is required to find it.

I had a smoke machine used on my car before and they found a smoke leak coming from my fuel tank. Should I just have the tank dropped and see what the problem is?
