'97 PCV problem

I understand that there may be leaks of the "O" rings on the PCV valve. As far as I can see, it is under the MAP sensor on the right (passenger) side of the engine, and it seems come from behind the idler and go into the aluminum lower intake manifold. To look at it one would think it is just a right angle plastic elbow.

As I have no shop manual for this car, what must removed to check/replace the "O" rings on this elbow? Or can I just clean it up and goober up both ends with silicon seal??

Thanks for your comments.

You must have the PCV valve location confused with the coolant bypass shown below:

The PCV is located under the MAP sensor as shown in the pic below: Click Here (http://macgp.clubgp.com/howto/engine/pcv/gt/pcv.html) for more pics & R&R details.

Take note that there are two coolant elbows. One that goes to the LIM and one to the water pump from the tensioner assembly. To replace see the tech procedure located at the Buick Tips & Maintenance forum which requires removal of the tensioner assembly. See link below.

Click here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=915511)

If the o-ring on the PCV valve is bad or missing it will most likely cause an EGR flow test failure and respective DTC plus SES/CEL light after a few drive cycles.

HotZ28 Thanks,

I'll have a closer look and be a bit more diligent in finding the PCV. Will examine things next week as time allows.

The picture is a great help.

Thanks again,
Jack C.
