Hello Everyone!!! I need a little help.
Sheriff's Investigator, just assigned 1998 Intrigue. Came with one key, thats it. I am curious to find out if it has the Keyless Remote Entry System. Can someone advise me how to find out, or where to look, and what to look for. Thanks in advance.

I believe ALL intrigues have the remote keyless entry.

Yep, he's right, they all have keyless. You can find remotes on Ebay. Just look for a remote for 1997-2000 Intrigue/Grand Prix/Regal.

but how do you program the remote when you find one?

98 Intrigue remote programming:

With doors closed:
1) Insert Key in ignition and turn to the run position.(do not start the car)

2) Turn key off and take it out of the ignition.

3) with the Driver side door lock switch, hold it in the Unlock position.

4) While holding the Drivers side door lock in the Unlock position, insert Key in ignition, without tunning it on, 3 times. On the third time, leave the key in the ignition.

5) Release the Drivers side door lock switch. You should here three door dings. If you do, this will indicate it is in the Keyless remote programing mode.

6) With your Remote, hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time untill you hear "two" door dings. This will indicate the remote is programed. (this can take upto 15 seconds) You can program up to 4 remotes while in this mode.

7) To stop keyless remote programing, Take key out of the ignition.

I'm not sure, but try it and if it doesn't work, then it won't work for an '02. It should work.

Nope, didn't work :(

The numbers on the back of the remote are:

DELPHI 10335582-88
CANADA: 34321021779
FCC ID : L2C0007T

Dealer wants to charge me $40 to program the remote, (or, more accurately, program the car to accept the new remote)

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
JM

I have a 99 GX that supposedly does not have keyless. Does it really have the system and I just have to buy and program a remote?

It should. Contact the parts dept of a dealer to get the Delphi part no
for your year/model then go hunting on E-bay. I picked-up three remotes for under $25.00 TOTAL, including S&H.

Now, I just have to pay the @#$%ing dealer 50 bucks to hook up the diagnostic tool to my car to accept the new remotes. :banghead:

Way cool! This is the first car I have ever had that didn't have keyless entry. I always wondered if the system was there. I will try to get a remote off ebay (there are tons) and see if it will work. Why do you need to have the dealer look at yours to get it to work?
