ATSG.com MT-2500 08-16-2008, 10:07 AM As said the transmission repair hand book is your best friend. Also AF's Blue Bowtie has some info here. It is on a Blazer but a lot the same as yours. http://72.19.213.157/files/4L60ERemoval.html http://72.19.213.157/files/4L60ERepairs.html MT wafrederick 08-17-2008, 12:37 PM Another thing,in the direct drum, there are 5 black springs in the drum.GM says to put them back in and the aftermarket says to throw them away.Take the aftermarket's advice, throw them away. The problem with them springs is that it restricts the clutches from floating easy starting to burn the top clutch and will burn the rest of them up.Get the removal tool to remove the line from the Jiffy tite connectors, they are not flare nut fittings. mansopoor 08-20-2008, 08:34 PM I have a 98 1/2 ton pick up with no 3rd and 4th gear, and i have a 97 blazer 4x4 with no overdrive and i just put a $1200.00 motor in it to find out the tranny may be gone now. i sure it was working before i put the new motor in. but i did have 12 beer as i pulled out the motor LAST YEAR, and just put in the new one last week, ya i know DUM. troy1 08-20-2008, 10:32 PM Another thing,in the direct drum, there are 5 black springs in the drum.GM says to put them back in and the aftermarket says to throw them away.Take the aftermarket's advice, throw them away. The problem with them springs is that it restricts the clutches from floating easy starting to burn the top clutch and will burn the rest of them up.Get the removal tool to remove the line from the Jiffy tite connectors, they are not flare nut fittings. The springs are there to keep the clutches from dragging during high centrifugal force situations. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
