2005 Malibu Radio and RDS?

My 2005 (not classic) has a stock radio. How do I know if it has RDS? Also, the radio in my car has seek buttons above and below the volume knob. On some other radios I have seen on ebay, there is a Band button above the volume knob and a different button below. The seek buttons are extra buttons below the 1-6 station preset buttons. The radio with the extra buttons also has an additional port on the back that is blocked off on the other. What are the differences between these two radios?

The insert image icon (yellow square with the mountains) is what you would click to when you want to attach images... Then just follow the steps

Well, since we STILL can't see the radios in question, the answer to your question is that if the radio has "TRAF" and/or "MSG" buttons on it, it has RDS.

The base level radio (without RDS) has the Seek buttons above and below the On/Off/Volume knob, whereas the uplevel radios have "BAND" and "SRCE" in those positions.

Having an Owner's Manual comes in handy......

Hey thanks for the info. I have been trying to attach the picture and it will still not work. It sounds like you understood my question without it though. Can I upgrade my radio to the "higher level" just by plugging in a newer one? Are there any issues?

I believe it was discussed before and if I remember correctly it's a dealer item, since the radio is tied up to the Vin Number of your vehicle the new radio needs to be programmed to work on your car.
Also the upper level radio has the onboard computer (Trip A, Trip B, Engine Oil Life, Avg Speed, Fuel Mileage, etc.) and I don't think you car is equiped to accept this feature since it wasn't an option selected when it was built.
You could try calling your local dealer and inquire on the subject.

My "lower level" radio does have the onboard computer (Trip A, Trip B, Engine Oil Life, Avg Speed, Fuel Mileage, etc.). It just doesn't have the extra buttons and RDS apparently.
