I have an engine overheating problem. I don't think it's the fuel pump. I would like to try replacing the thermostat first but I'm not even sure how to get at it. Any help out there? It is a 1990 LeSabre 3.8 liter V6 4 door with A.C.

There will be one bolt on the top of the thermostat housing... I believe it will be an 11mm...

Make sure you have all of the O rings for the thermostat or you will have a leak... If the thermostat housing has never been off, you may be in for a treat as the intake and thermostat housing love to stick together due to corrosion..

Depending on where you are in this nation you may want to run the 195F or the 180F if you are in a hotter climate like Florida...

Good Luck

Sure the coolant is at proper level. Can you explain the overheating problem possible someone can help diagnose further. I assume you mean't the water pump versus the fuel pump.

On the LN3 the Thermostats do not have an O-ring around them... Instead there is a thermostat housing to thermostat seal as well as an O-ring for the thermostat housing..

These O-rings have to be replaced...
