I own a 1985 LTD Crown Victoria LX. I parked it last Summer and have driven other cars since. Now, when I wen to get it out of my garage, it will start, but not continue to run. I found that the fuel pump is not engaging. I am looking to troubleshoot this but have some questions. Where is the specific fuse for this pump? The manual is very vague about it. Also, where is the relay for this pump?

The ignition switch feeds a pcm relay. My mitchell manual is down as I had hard drive problems and am using another drive. I would check fuseable links by the starter you can tell if they a burnt. Use to sizes of smaller wire to make a link. I think this relay is in the kick panel on the passenger side. The ignition switch is on the steering column close to the hold down bracket.
The fuel pump relay is in the trunk usually on a plastic bracket on the trunk hinge. Check the computer ground next to the computer in the pass side kick panel. Also check the small ground wire on the battery cable. Some feed from the starter relay S & I terminals. Check push button usually on a metal bracket on the side of the trunk. Between trunk & bracket.

If the vehicle starts, the fuel pump has to be getting current. The fuel pump relay is located down behind the drivers headlight area under the hood. It will have a green colored skirt on it. Ther ECM relay is also located there.

on the fuelpump in this year the fuelpump fiter sits in a valley in the bottom of the gas tank. if it has set awhile the all of the settleings in the gas tank have probably covered the pump filter . on ly way is too pull the fuelpump and try to clean the filter.or buy a new filter if you can buy one without buying a fuelpump.
