One problem that plagued these cars was rust. Especially on the rear frame rails going over the rear axle. If the vehicle spent any time in an area where the roads are salted in the winter , the slat spray would get kicked up and splashed in that general area and after a few years , rust would take hold. I lost a couple of good '80s G Body GMs because of this as it is an expensive fix and generally not worth it. Rust is also common along the door bottoms and wheel openings and trunk.Hopefully the car was well maintained and you can just "take over " keeping a vigilant eye on keeping any new rust from forming.
These cars generally had few issues and were reliable . Especially as they came towards the end of their production run the following year:frown: . Leave it to GM to get all the bugs out and have a pretty good car, only to discontinue it in favor of a new model with a whole new set of issues:grinyes:.
