92 jimmy 4.3 votex code 22..new tps...help with fuel cut off relay pleaserandolphtpr 08-04-2008, 09:37 AM new fuel pump and pressures checked out just 100's of miles ago...i will double check....right now i am having high and inconsistent idle speed...new tps but i know nothing of the fuel "cut off" relay....code 22...i swapped the fuel "pump" relay with a twin and things don't change...is this the same relay??....code says short circuit in fuel cut off relay....where would i most likely find the short circuit??....check engine goes off after 15 minutes and comes on at start up...no other codes....all my cpi stuff is newer....like i said...i will re-check my fuel pressure but would like to know if i am missing something here.....can anyone help? MT-2500 08-04-2008, 10:51 AM Code 22 is TPS signal below .2 volts for more than 4 seconds. Clear code and see if it comes back. If so check signal voltage on TPS sensor and plugin and wiring. What code are you getting for fuel pump relay? randolphtpr 08-04-2008, 01:24 PM in my book code 22 reads as follows: "throttle position sensor(tps)-signal voltage is low fuel cutoff relay circuit-open or shorted to ground" no other code comes up...i'm on another vehicle now but i'll check to see if i have the info to check those voltages at the tps and clear the code in the mean time...thanks for the response...more info asap MT-2500 08-04-2008, 05:35 PM Work on the tps sensor voltage. I can not find any referance for a code 22 on fuel cutoff relay. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/92-93_43Z_tbi.shtml Good Luck MT Gabe25 08-04-2008, 05:41 PM Work on the tps sensor voltage. I can not find any referance for a code 22 on fuel cutoff relay. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/92-93_43Z_tbi.shtml Good Luck MT Hope this helps. This is what I have in my books. CODE 22 Trouble Code 22 indicates that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is reading abnormally low. TPS volts should be close to 0.42 V at closed throttle and rise smoothly in about 0.02 volt increments to a maximum reading of about 4.85 volts at WOT. The conditions for setting this code are: • the engine is running, and • TPS reading is < 0.20 volts Note: During a Code 22 condition, the ECM uses a default TPS value of 2.6 volts. This will cause the engine to idle very high. Typical causes for this code include: 1) Maladjusted TPS 2) Defective TPS 3) No +5 volt reference to TPS 4) TPS-return to ECM is shorted to ground or to sensor ground 5) Defective ECM NOTE: The TPS must be adjusted to about 0.42 volts at closed throttle for the ECM to auto-zero properly. If necessary, adjust the TPS to bring the voltage up or down to this value at closed throttle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
