98 CV, new intake and now high temp

I have a 98 CV and the intake cracked, leaked coolant, and killed two coils on the spark plugs. Living in an apartment, had to take to a mechanic and they replaced the intake with a new one, tuned it up, replaced the coils and coolant.

Before any of this, the temp always ran in the 'middle'. Since the repair, it runs right near the top of the scale, but the hose aren't rock hard at all, the fan will go off and on as normal, not running all the time. I don't know if the sending unit is bad or did it get mixed up with the computers sending unit.

The needle does not just shoot to the top, it actually appears to more sensitve than normal. It takes approximately 5-8 minutes to get to the top reading. Depending on the weather and whether I'm towing somethng, the temperture will go up and down slightly, 1/8 inch or so.

Any comments or ideas?

Thank You.

I had the exact thing happen to me....over time it seems as it gets cooler but I would love to find out why it did that.

From your statement it appears you aren't getting good circulation. Both upper and lower radiator hoses should be hot when the engine is up to temperature. A collapsed hose bad new thermostat or plugged radiator can cause this.

Sounds like air or a big air bubble in your cooling system somewere.

If you don't figure it out go back to the shop. They might have put the wrong intake on or used the wrong gasket and plugged some holes blocking circulation. Anyway they should fix the problem.

Thanks everybody for your replies, it ended up being a sending unit. Now everything reads fine.
