will not start John Acebo 07-30-2008, 12:30 PM
Hello, Request your help. My 89 Firebird will not start when the engine is hot, I have to wait 20 or so minutes to cool off before it starts again. Appreciate the tips. Thanks, john Morley 07-30-2008, 08:40 PM Kind of slim on info. Does it shutoff on its own when it get hot? If so I would have to start with the ignition control module. Not, it does shutoff on its own. It won't start if the car has been driven for more than 10 mins. All the components, lights.... work. The battery is new and the starter about a year now. Also, it passes the security check (chip on key) so I know is not that. Thanks, mikeemon 07-31-2008, 12:18 PM You mentioned starter... Does it turn over? John Acebo 08-19-2008, 11:39 AM You mentioned starter... Does it turn over? It does not turnover. mikeemon 08-19-2008, 12:20 PM Check for voltage at the starter when turning the key to statrt. Voltage yes=bad starter. Voltage no = electrical problem. Morley 08-20-2008, 02:20 AM Also check the positive wire from the battery to the starter, it may show voltage but can't carry a load when hot (breaking down internally).
