91 LeSabre Tilt Wheel: Not The Three Bolts

Greetings, my 1991 LeSabre developed a VERY loose steering wheel in the last couple of weeks. Being aware of the "three loose bolts" problem I wasn't too worried. I dropped it off at the mechanic and he also though it was the three famous bolts. Just got off the phone with him and it is not the three bolts. He says there use to be a GM Tilt Wheel Repair Kit available for what is wrong with my car. He's not sure if he can find one.

Anyone know what this repair kit is and where I might find one?

Thanks! :grinyes:

It sounds like the pivot pins need to be bushed. That happens to some columns. I've always just made my own oilite bushings to fit:

A typical mechanic or dealership probably doesn't have the facilities to get that done.

A "fresh" column from a junkyard may be an easier option to take at this point.

Thanks guys. The mechanic is trying to find a used column now.
