oil pressure gauge install

Ok,
I've searched the forums and found others have a oil light that comes on at idle also, I changed the sensor and same thing still happens, after engine is warm, oil light blinks on at idle.
I don't believe the light and would prefer to install a manual aftermarket gauge.
Has anyone out there done this?
can I tap in to the oil somewhere besides the sending unit?
If I disconnect the sending unit will it cause the car to not run
2002 Stratus 2.7 V-6 75000 miles
anything else maybe you ran into that I'm not thinking of?
I don't mind crawling under the car again, but where the sending unit is located is increadably tight and if I ask first, maybe I can avoid doing it twice
Thanks in advance

After searching forever on the internet, I think I've found the answer.
I'm posting this in case someone else has the same problem in the future.
Also, if you are thinking about purchasing a Stratus 2.7 V-6.
Ask yourself 1 question "am I a Do It Yourselfer?" This vehicle is very difficult to work on in the average driveway.
Common maint items inspect battery for loose or corroded terminals
According to the Haynes manual
step 1 remove left front tire WHAT??
I bought this car in 03 and never saw the battery until 06
another common maint item
Flush cooling system and replace thermostat
Again step 1 remove left front tire 2. remove alternator
Again WHAT???
if you are willing to pay $85.00 an hour, or more for what I consider to be minor maint items, this may be a car for you.
Anyway, www.glowshiftdirect.com sells a oil filter adapter for installing
up to 4 oil accesories, simple as unscrewing oil filter, screw on adapter,
replace oil filter, whala, 4 oil ports to tap into.
at the time of this post it was 29.95 plus UPS.
Hope this helps someone that is looking for the same answer I was.
Good Luck
