http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-1.jpg
Break disc painted, washed and I added some bolts to represent the real think, if it is visible I will add two more on each side.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-10.jpg
The wheels, I preferred to use the stencil instead of the decals that it comes with the kit.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspeed-D.jpg
I don't know for the name of this piece for sure, but the radiators were positioned in the place but they were not glued yet.

Indeed a great start to one of the 'real' DTM cars, from a period when it was fun (at least in my eyes) to watch the DTM races.

Your parts look very clean and well done.
I'll sure be following this build !

I agree Axel

So, a small updating, I began to put some color on it.

Small updating, I painted with metallic blue that part and I glued the radiators.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-14.jpg
The internal parts of the door, I need to improve some details here, but I think nor it will be visible after ready.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-15.jpg
The parts of the back suspension...
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-16.jpg
... here I need to fix some details, the paint came out in the tip of the screws and it was flow in the junction over the yellow. I painted of metallic blue the body of that part with the cover in flat aluminum. Does anybody know what is that part? Does it deserve some connection with some thing?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-17.jpg
After I saw the in car video I decided to remove the red paint on the panel, I painted with a dark gray and I brushed matt varnish in the steering wheel, I think was good.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-18.jpg
The cage, I decided to give one more coating because the yellow was not good, now I will repaint the protection with flat black.

small problem, that broken piece...get a thin styrene to replace it.
or if you're not confident the 2 pieces will look the same, then file off the other good piece & do a pair of this!

great shine...

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-34.jpg
Like I don't have references of the engine, I did some cables to give a more realistic aspect...
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-33.jpg
Here I didn't put the clear parts yet, I won't also paint, I will leave everything apparent
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-32.jpg
The front grill appeared spotted, I don't have any idea of what happened...
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-31.jpg
I painted some days ago and today when I went to glue appeared with those stains. It was kept in the box...
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-30.jpg
I managed to do the repair with bare-metal ultra bright chrome

Thank you Brat_R. I will visit your assembly for sure, I am fan of the DTM cars, that mercedes D2 is the only that I don't have it, but I intend to find some day.

Here it is the work of application of the decals yesterday night. I will let to dry for some days and later I will apply the varnish.

Thank you Fabio!

Well, while some things to detail the car I bought still didn't arrive, I will venture in "manufacturing" this piece. I will reproduce this part that is under the blue pin, I believe that is some piece related to the radiators.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-43.jpg
Expired credit card, sanded and cut in three parts
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Tamiya-Mercedes-Promarkt-Zakspee-42.jpg
I used the Pro Weld bought on eBay, join the pieces, it is going for capillarity and it glues in 10s, very good.

Here a fit test with wire that will be the hose

Thank you Robi, I am going slowly and patient... I am enjoying the model.

Wow, amazing detail! How did you create the red tubing?
Thank you JTninja! The tubing was painted of flat black enamel, later airbrushed with two mist flat red enamel and finally a wash with acrylic flat black with the proportion of about 1:5 (paint:solvent) and I clean the relief with a cloth. After that I dry brushed flat red again over the tubing.

Small updating, I have tried solve the problem of mask to paint the windows of the car. I copy the lines on a transparent sheet, I redrew the outlines in the computer and I printed in those self-adhesive labels. As those labels are horrible, I glued them on a Tamiya masking tape. Here is the result.

Great looking progress. The chassis is spot on. Nice paint job you did on it.

About the seat belts...I have been there before. Just touching them with your nails make the metal become visible - such a hazzle to get it right...

The masking template idea is great - I just copy yourf idea for upcoming projects!

stevenoble - Thank you! You are right they are very realistic to me too, but very fragile. More to come very soon.

Robert - As the kit do not have windshield mask we have to improvise and this way works very nice. I am glad the idea is helpful. Try once and you will like the result.

Julian - Thank you for the comments. Other friends told me the thickness is accurate for electrical wires. I will fix the cables to the floor. How is the best way you think to fix them?

daniel - I have others DTM cars, but the yellow mercedes is my favorite. Thank you!,

There is some issues here and there that is not showed in the pictures, but I am trying to do my best.

I´m still admiring this paint and decal job.

Will you add the CF you see in the reference pictures to your build - f.ex. on the middle console...?

Robert - Thank you. No I won't, mine was painted black... :iceslolan the book arrived few days ago and the interior is almost done, so I won't change this time.

Small reportage about what is happening. First the front dropped and the paint cracked up the headlight, I have to mask very carefully because of decal already applied.

and the repaint done

As everything is being an experience, right and wrong, I will to add the side light instead to paint the piece. So, when I opened the hole the bare-metal gone, and I have to start over again. Picked a 0.80mm fishing line and paint with Tamiya orange clear, we will see how it looks after installation, but I liked the result so far.
