Im having a problem with the fuel gauge probably the sending unit. I had it replaced years ago but I believe its bad again. It fluctuates and does not read accuratley. Can I replace it without pulling the tank. How Hard is it to pull the fuel tank?

Thanks

Check ground on it.
The tank sending unit is in the fuel tank.
You have to drop the tank.
1-3 hrs labor.

How many miles on the fuel pump that is in it?

It has about 65,000 on the pump. Where is the ground located? When the tank is out could you make a hole in the trunk area over the pump and sending unit and cover it and if it had to be changed again you could remove it that way. Thanks for the reply

4.3 V6 ?
If so ground is on rear of right cylinder head.
You can check for good ground on the 2 black wire going to tank unit.
Use a good volt/ohm meter or hook a bulb type test light to positive 12 volt wire and touch the grounds and see if it lights up good and bright with key on .
If so you should have a good ground.

Do not butcher it by cutting holes threw body cross member braces or floor board.
If pump has been replaced and if.
If the replacement pump was not a ac-delco/delphi pump I would replace it with a good ac-delco pump module when you have the tank down.

A good ac delco pump module should last you another 150-200 K miles.
Good Luck

Thanks for the info Ill check it out. It was an Ac Delco pump. The funny thing on my 99 express van its a life time warranty on the pump and sending unit. Not on the Blazer?

You are welcome .
Let us know how it goes.
The ac-delco warranty is usually a year.
But some chain parts stores add on and cover the life time warranty.
Nice to have.

Actually I had the pump and sending unit replaced on both. The Blazer was when my son was away at school and it was under an aextended warranty. The oher on my express van was done through the dealer because I couldnt wait. I had a friend in the body shop get the pump for me and the mechanic installed it. I could have got the part cheaper but I couldnt beat the life time warranty on the sending unit or pump. Ill let you know what I find.
