hi i live in maryland and i saw a listing on craigs list that posted a free car. tommorow im going to go see how it runs but i was wondering about the taxes/legal fees i have to pay or licencing tags or watever etc. haha basically what do i have to do if its a free car to make it completely "mine" and how much does it cost (in maryland) or do they just hand me the title and its done?

Some state's DMV's require people titling a vehicle that is free or a gift to fill out a special form that includes both parties names and info about the vehicle. I believe some states may impose a tax if the vehicle has a high value and you didn't pay anything for it.( But in most cases you'll jut need to fill out the form.) best thing to do is to check out your specific state's DMV website. your's would be : http://www.dmv.org/md-maryland/department-motor-vehicles.php

hm im sure i could probably tell from the mva site somewhere but i dont understand half of it haha. is there anything else i need to do after the title is transferred.

You should be able to get many of your questions answered by calling the toll free number listed for the DMV.
