Fuzzy Logic Transmission

Is anyone able to tell me more about the Fuzzy Logic Transmission in my 2002 Beetle.

For the past 9 months my transmission has been kicking back somewhat. As in when I might take off from traffic lights it may really jerk into the next gear. My mechanic has said that there is plenty of fluid and no error codes, is this normal? I mean I know it adjusts itself to how you drive but it just seems to be kicking back alot and I can't remember it doing it when I bought it as a used car almost 2 years ago. Would it be to have the fuzzy logic reset to manufacturer default settings or something. Today is the first time I've heard of this fuzzy logic thing.

I'd take it to an automatic transmission specialist as it sounds like something is not right. Never heard of "fuzzy logic"....the VW auto is just a normal garden variety design with nothing fancy.

Hi - I just took my 2004 into the dealer this morning because it was "clunking" into gear real hard. They just called to tell me I need a new transmission (thank goodness it's under warranty!) They acted like it's a known problem. It's the VW dealer in Carlsbad, CA if you're interested in speakingwith them, they seem to know the car quirks pretty well.

Highly reccomend you replace the transmission fluid, pan gasket, and filter. I should be changed every 50-60k. VW does not reccomend it but if you dont change it then you will replace the tranny at 100k miles
