I have a 2004 Sentra automatic that has started flashing the O/D light about 5 times when I start it and then goes out. Most of the time it runs like normal but this morning when I put it in gear it was stuck in second gear. Had to give it a lot of gas to get going. I turned it off and restarted it. The light flashed again but the transmission was fine. I drove about 60 miles with no problems and when I got home I turned the motor off and restarted it and the light did not flash like it did when it was cold. What could be causing this?

Could be many things. . . There is a light sometimes and sometimes the tranny will cycle through without a problem and will turn the light off. The car should be throwing a code so your best be would be to check the wiring to all the sensors to insure they are clean. Past that you need to take it somewhere with a scan tool capable of pulling tranny codes.

You may have been right. It seemed to have reset itself and is doing find now.
