Blower motor relay keeps burning out

I have a 1995 Olds 88 with 250000 miles on it. Last winteer my blower motor quit and I traced it to a burnt relay. I replaced the realy and all was well until just last week. The same problem occurred. I replaced the relay again but this time it burnt within two days. I do not if this will help anyone but the relay I replaced this time had a relay number 412393 on it and the terminal marked 87 was the terminal that was charred. I am seriously considering just wiring the blower direct with a toggle switch but do no want to cause a more serious problem. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AF. Make sure the connector at the blower is clean and tight and the ground also. See if the connector in the panel for the relay is burnt or corroded, that can cause high voltage which will burn up the relay also. If all looks good suspect the blower is pulling to much current.

I have a problem with the blower fan not working at all, and then suddenly start working. The rear defroster doesn't work at all. I suspect a relay problem, but just don't know where it is. I have a 1995 Olds 88. This car will also start running rough for two or three days with the check engine light coming on and staying on, then it'll suddenly stop doing this for a long period of time - then suddenly start in again with the same thing. This is a weird car..
