2 years ago, the intake manifold on my 98 cv cracked and was leaking coolant and overheating, after findind out that is was a know problem and not under warannty and over 1000$ to fix, we drained the coolant, cleaned the intake with brake cleaner, sanded the area and applied J-B weld, it held for 2 years, it was in the shop for a new temp sending unit, and after the install it spilt again, same method was applied, its not leaking and did not cost 1000$, just thought Id pass this along

They make aftermarket intakes that are well under $1000.00 they used to be around $250.00 you can also buy used.

i bought one at ebay for 30 bucks, its plastic just like the old one but it now has 20K miles on it, and i don't know how many miles on the mustang it come from. I suggest buy one used and never let the car overheat because that's what kill the plastic crap they put in our cars.

There are a S$%*pot full of different part numbers for the 4.6 intake manifolds. I bought one for a Mustang thinking it would provide better performance, but it was about 1" too tall to even go on my engine. I contacted the seller in NY, and he shipped me the correct part, all I paid was shipping both ways. I was really lucky on that deal!

I had the same problem but without the overheating. It leaked fluid on two of the spark plugs and the coils over them. I took it in since I was in an apartment complex - they frown on working on cars.

They replaced the intake, two coils, 8 plugs, cleaned a couple of sensors, wires, and it still was $1200 for everything. Those frickin' coils were expensive - I miss the one coil for $30.
