I have a 99 passat. When I turn the key I have power to everything,but the starter will not engage.All I hear is the relay in the dash. I replaced the starter and solenoid and the same thing happens. Any body have any clues as to what would be causing this.I'm going to try just hot wiring the starter and see if the car will start. Thanks for any help

I have a similar problem in mine. I have a 98 passat, I installed a new door knob on passenger side, afterthat, the car will not turn on. I don't know if is the alarm or anti-theft system or whatever could be. All it does is a weird tick-tick noise......if you have a resolution for your car please let me know.

if the antitheft was activating the car would still start, just start and die. Check the battery and see what the volts are (or remove it and take it to the parts store and have them test it.)
