I have a 2005 dodge grand caravan, after turning the engine off, there is a short squealing noise near the alternator. Could this be the serpentine belt or something else? If it is the belt, what are the steps for replacement?

How many miles are on it? it could be the belt or it could also be the alternator decoupler pulley. This pulley is there to absorb the sudden shock of when the engine is started, shut down and when the engine is revved.I just replaced the alternator on mine as it was squealing on shut down also. you can replace only the pulley, but I had alot of miles so to be safe... so the cheapest route is to change the belt and see if the problem goes away.
