98 Voyager Horn and Cruise Control Not Workingfcunha 06-30-2008, 11:34 AM I have a 1998 Grand Voyager. The Horn and Cruise Control is not working. No light (or anything else) for cruise control The horn does 'chirp' when using the key fob to lock the car as well as the panic button. The airbag light is NOT on and the air bag check seems to cycle OK when the car is started. I have check this forum and many other places and these symptoms seem to lead to the clockspring recall. I called the dealer, they checked my VIN, and the clockspring was replaced in 2004 as part of the recall. They did say however, that this could be coverered under an extended lifetime warrantee as part of the recall, but I have to pay $$ for the problem determination if that's not it. So - my question is, is there something else that could be causing the horn and cruise control not to work? Fuses and horn relay look good. Help is appreciated -THANK YOU! cbwilsha 06-30-2008, 11:48 AM There is no doubt in my mind about it definitely being the clockspring. It is not unusual for your model to require still a second clockspring after the recall fix. And I agree with your Dealer; any reputable extended warranty will cover replacement. If you have no extended warranty, the fix is very straightforward requiring only a short time so the expense shouldn't be too bad. C.B. fcunha 06-30-2008, 12:21 PM Thank You for the information... I called Chrysler Corp and verified that if the clockspring needs to be replaced, it will be covered under a 'life time warrantee' for this recall. WHEW! :lol2: I will post results back here when the problem is resolved. On this note, I really like this forum and it's helped me solve some problems on my Voyager. I just wish that folks would post final resolution to problems. It seems like many fish for answers, then never come back and post the resolution. Thanks Again! Yup, tell me about it. I've been fighting that battle for 4 years on this and other forums. What might work? Post a fix and get $5. Other than that, it's hopeless. Always good to hear somebody is going to have a fix on Chrysler's dime. Cheers! fcunha 07-03-2008, 04:38 PM Well, just got a call from the Chrysler service department and it was the Clockspring. :grinyes: Fixed at NO-CHARGE!!!! :lol2: This recall has a lifetime warrantee for the CLOCKSPRING... The service guy tried telling me yeseterday that if the Air Bag light is not on, that the warrantee doesn't apply - but a call to Chrysler fixed that.
