Window track lubricant- GTP Dad?johnsonace 06-26-2008, 09:21 PM GTP Dad, in a previous post regarding windows that won't work you said: "Also you may want to lubricate the entire track as water can cause issues like sticking and hard movement." What do you use to lubricate the track with? I have two windows that frequently stick on my '98 GS. Thanks richtazz 06-27-2008, 03:27 PM AGS and Loctite both offer a lubricant stick that you can rub on the cables, or you can use white lithium grease. Normally when the windows stick in these cars, it's due to either the cable guides are worn or off track. Grease won't help in this situation, and replacing the window regulator is necessary. A cause of intermittent operation is the thermal limiters that are built into the motors. They trip off, causing the motor to stop suddenly, then after a short period, they will work again. GTP Dad 06-28-2008, 12:03 PM Thanks for handling that one Rich! As Rich indicated lithium grease is the best to use. johnsonace 06-28-2008, 06:45 PM The tracks I thought you meant were the grooves the window moves in. The window has always been sticky. I recently had to replace the regulator and at that time took the window out, cleaned the grooves in the molded rubber inserts and put polish on the edges of the glass. The problem still persists. Any ideas? richtazz 07-03-2008, 07:57 AM Thanks for handling that one Rich! As Rich indicated lithium grease is the best to use. No Problem Lynn, always glad to help out. To the OP, exactly what do you mean by the windows "stick"? Do you mean they bind while going up, then release, do they go up herky-jerky, or do they just completely stop for a second or two then start again? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
