new to this forum and to buicks. any way we purchased a 2000 buick lesabre last year and only has 75,000 miles on it. any way a problem as just surfaced, it has an intermitant problem starting. when the key is turned to the start position most of the time it starts but occaisionally it just acts like the starter isn't there. today we had it in for an oil change and they told us that this problem showed up when they tried to start it and one of the guys had to tap the starter to wake it up. Has any one here experienced this and if so whats the cure?

thanks jes

not sure what you mean by security lights but all dash light go out while trying to start the car while this is occuring. this only happened to us once, but it happened to the service guy who was changng the oil. this is my wifes car and it has her worried that she will get stranded if not corrected. we are thinking the starter, but don't want to get it changed and later find out it was somthing else.

thanks jes

i thinking starter too or the ground wire might have burnt to the starter..Sorry, the starter does not have a "ground wire" :shakehead
Have you cleaned & serviced your battery cables? It sounds like you are loosing voltage somewhere. I might be wrong, but this does not sound like a starter problem.
