Hi all. I did a search and came up with I should check the brake fluid level when the brake light and chime come on. So the fluid is full and now I can't figure out what else I should be checking without replacing a bunch of parts. Does anybody have any experience with this problem. Some times the lights on and sometimes its not.

Thanks AJ

In a lot of cases this is an indication that the Master cylinder has failed...

Take a look at the rear of the Master Cylinder where it meets the Booster.... Does it look wet at that point?

No it sure doesn't look wet there.

Do you know if there is a switch on the emergency brake that would put the light and chime on if it were bad. Possibly the switch thinks the emergency brake is on when its not.

Also about the brake fluid level switch, is that located by the master cylinder?

Thank AJ

I don't normally recommend this... But as a test only, Look for the wires going to the Master cylinder fluid reservoir... When you find the connector at the Res unplug it and see if the light goes out

Hey,

I had similar problem occur on my 92 park avenue. Brake fluid turned out to be my problem, however, I did find that the wire running too the parking brake switch was frayed in several places. One thing I did to rule out the parking brake switch was too unplug it from the system.

Its located about a handlength in from the parking brake pedal (up inside the dash a little.) Its a simple wire connecting too a switch. Try pulling that out. It may not be the problem at all, but it will rule out the parkng brake switch.
