2003 XREAS 4Runner--lift kitsVTISC007 06-18-2008, 06:15 PM My 4Runner needs new shocks. I have around 130,000 miles on them (original). The dealer wants to charge me somewhere along the lines of $1200. Downey Off-Road has a mild lift kit for around the same price. The guy at Downey was kind of new and didn't know too much about the XREAS system. He said I might have to disable the XREAS in order to run some nice Bilstein shocks. Does anybody have any further details regarding this matter? fourwd1 06-23-2008, 04:18 PM A suspension lift requires longer shocks, so you will have to remove the XREAS shocks. It's not that big a thing, but you need the entire truck on jack stands so that all 4 tires are at maximum droop, to relieve all the pressure in the system. There are several how-to's online. And if you're considering a lift, look at the other ones on the market too. VTISC007 07-05-2008, 03:07 AM A suspension lift requires longer shocks, so you will have to remove the XREAS shocks. Can you recommend a few sites that can give me a clear picture. I need to know if I need to plug something or unplug something...or if it will affect the computer.
