2004 Transmission seal leak

Ever since I replaced my drivers side half shaft, the seal has leaked. I have replaced the seal three times, so a total of four seals have leaked at the same rate. The last time I did the seal, I was extremely careful. The seal was replaced correctly. AND the seal I removed appeared perfect.

I fear the inner CV joint is too long, and causing the seal to sit on the wrong part of the joint. O'Reilly says the half shaft is the same from 1996 to 2004. Mine is a 2004. Were there any inner CV joint changes in the years 1996 to 2004 that could produce a seal leak.

Additional info: I verified it is the seal by jacking the car, putting it in drive, and watching the fluid leak out right under the spinning CV joint.

Thanks for any input.

My problem turned out to be a faulty "rebuilt CV, half shaft" from an auto parts store. I do not know what the issue was, but a new (other) shaft cured the problem.
I would be happy to talk to you about how to change the seal. I can do it in about 20 min.
