98 dodge grand caravan ABS light onfireman3400 06-17-2008, 03:45 PM I own a '98 dodge grand caravan se. The abs light is on and will not go out. I tryed to reset it by pulling the battery cable but that does not work. When I brought the van about 2 months ago someone pulled the lightbulb from it.I put a new one in. I have 4 wheel abs system. Is there a way to reset/fix this with out going to the local dodge dealer and spending a lot of money for them to but it on the machine.I don't think autozone will check it for me. The last autozone I went to told me there scanner does not to abs. Or is there a ABS light reset and diagnosis proceedure (http://www.nissanoffroad.net/messageboard/index.php?PHPSESSID=98eb9eacebadb415d5565ca3b37733 9d&topic=519.msg5236#msg5236) (http://www.nissanoffroad.net/messageboard/index.php?PHPSESSID=98eb9eacebadb415d5565ca3b37733 9d&topic=519.msg5236#msg5236) I can do. RIP 06-17-2008, 04:45 PM Doesn't mean it can't be done but, I'm not aware of a way to check/reset ABS codes without an ABS scanner. Short of using a scanner you could inspect each of the 4 wheel sensors for anything amis. They are the usual culprit. fireman3400 06-17-2008, 08:55 PM Doesn't mean it can't be done but, I'm not aware of a way to check/reset ABS codes without an ABS scanner. Is there a way to take all the sensors off and clean them? Then hook them back up.If I do it that way what do I clean them with? Vats 06-18-2008, 08:44 AM As far as I know you need the proper diagnostic tool. In the older models you could use a jumper wire and it would flash the codes through the check engine light. The ABS light has been on in my van for 3 years. I had the codes read but it indicated there was a connection error between the computer and the ABS module. I was advised by my mechanic that you can spend $$$$ on ABS and it wont necissarily make the light go out. You can take the sensors off and clean them as it is one bolt on each hub holding it in, it may be some debris on ne of them. When the ABS light comes on it disables the system so your breaks are fine but just no anti-lock. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
