My 1996 Regal developed a pretty bad front end shimmy/vibration. I'm sure I am overdue for front brakes, but unsure if that could be part of the problem or not. I replaced the front tires last year. It feels like it is coming from the passengers side, but the odd part is that the front passanger tire look normal, but the drivers side tire is wasted. You can really feel the vibration in the steering wheel, but I would say that the actual klunking or clicking sound is what is the most annoying. The clicking sound does not speed up or slow down the faster or slower I go, but it is the most noticeable when you take your foot off of the gas pedal. I just need some possible causes like.. brakes, tie rods, bearings, etc.

The easy way to answer your question is to check everything. It is possible you have a bad tie rod, either outer or inner, bad control arm bushings, warped rotor, bad tire, out of balance tire, bad ball joints. So pull the front tires off and check everything out. I suspect either a bad tie rod end or bad control arm bushings.

In addition to Lynn's suggestions, also check the CV axles.
