Hey Guys, was hoping to change out the Lower intake gasket on my GTP here one of these days as preventative maintenance and switch to the GM updated metal one.

Was hoping you guys could give me some tips and tricks, or possible tell me what else should be replaced at the same time. I've never done a LIM on a 3800 series 2.

Maybe if I ask Rich really nice, he can provide me with some part numbers.

Preventive maintenance? Old saying Tim " If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

We have the part numbers for the NA SII 3800 engine at Tips & Maintenance for the revised aluminum framed LIM gaskets but check with Rich on the ones for the L67 engine. Also, they will be either pinned or unpinned meaning the two plastic/rubber end seals.

Truth of the matter is, about a week ago I changed my valve cover gaskets, and it appears my LIM gasket is leaking a little coolant on the passenger side of my motor.... You caught me! I was hoping no one would ask. Ha Ha. Its not a big leak, just seeping, and I'd rather take car of it before it spews coolant in my oil. Which would probably happen just as its starting to get cold for the winter. I cant be without a car.

Plus the 3800 is such a nice easy motor to work on, thus far. LIM gaskets seem nice and easy to replace. Will change out the Supercharger Gasket at the same time and probably the fuel injector lower o-rings.

I did mine two years ago this month. I had signs of coolant in the oil but only known by oil analysis and minute. I had no signs of an external leak but then one day had a major blow out of the upper gasket and coolant everywhere.
Below is a link of my post of what I did and the cost. No more related problems and car now has 344,000 miles on it and still uses no oil between changes at 5000 miles. It has developed a slight vibration in the motor and after hitting a possum now has a bit of a noise that sound like a bad bearing somewhere. Makes this noise at idle so I know it is engine related.
You shouldn't have much trouble doing the job and if you can afford the cash, go the extra mile and replace everything I did and you will head off some future maintenance for a while.
