Hi I have been experiencing this weird problem.
The two vents on the driver side are blowing normal/Hot air whereas on the passenger side vents they are blowing cold air. I am really frustrated can anyone help me on this. I appreciate your help. I am sweating badly without AC on driver side

Thanks,

Suman

Same problem as I had. The actuator motor in the passenger footwell was bad. It opens and closes off air flow and mine was stuck. Might be your problem also.

Hello polarzak: you say you had this problam also, but do not say how it was fixed. I also have this problem with my 99 LeSabre and the mechanic wanted $1,500.00 to fix it; I told him I'd roll down the window! I work for a company that makes military vehicles and one of the mechanical engineers (who also owns a Buick LeSabre) said it was the hoses to the vaccuum pump/actuator because l still have AC from the windshield. What did you finally do to fix it?

Hi Pacific888.
There is an actuator motor, run by vacume in the passenger foot well. (That is where it is in my 2000) It opens and closes a vent door. I think mine was open allowing cooled AC into the passenger side, but heat to my side. Everything else worked fine to the windshield. The actuator motor itself was dead, and I replaced it. This is a couple of years ago, but I think the actuator motor was about $100.00, maybe a little more, but definitely not $1500.00 . Not a difficult job if I remember correctly.

Thank you SO much Polarzak! I think I can now get this problem fixed for a lot less than $1500! Appreciate your help/info.

Does the glove compartment need to be removed to acess the actuator?

After locating the actuator motors under the dash (driver & passenger side), I removed the drivers side actuator and held it in my hand with the electric wires still hooked up. I then chanced the temp on the dash to see if the actuator moved. It did. I then reached under to see if the air diverter door was frozen. I could operate the door easily by hand while changing the temp on the dash and I could only still get warm air on the drivers side. I then went back to the internet and found another site where someone mentioned that if the ac system was even 1/2 pound low on pressure the drivers side would blow warm air. I took the car to a shop where they charged the system and it now works fine.

that was my first impression- low charge-- compressor shaft seal leak-- you can check those temp door actuators without removing them- just unhook glove box and watch them...

fixed this problem last month. Driver side actuator stopped working. For $8 got a replacement from local wrecker. 2 out of 5 for difficulty scale. As mentioned play with temp and watch if it move. It should otherwise it needs replacing. Enjoy the money you'll safe if you DIY.

Just had my 2000 le sabre drivers side AC start blowing warm air, passenger side is ice cold. Where is the actuator(s) located and what am I looking for? Is the drivers side on the driver side? Passenger one passenger side? What does one look like? Thanks..

I've been having the same problem on my 2001 Buick Lesabre Custom. Eventually the entire ac started blowing hot air. I took it to Jiffy Lube (quick, convenient). They evacuated and recharged the system. Fixed! 4 weeks and just under 10,000 miles later, yes I drive for a living, and the warm air on drivers side cold on passenger side problem returned. Back to Jiffy. They put a piece of equipment on to test it. The green light lit up and they said charge was good. I checked and only one actuator is listed for that year/model. I removed the glove box, found the actuator and watched as I changed from vent to ac, to defrost etc. Then I removed the actuator and rotated the shaft by hand. It was not stuck. I changed the temp from cold to hot and the actuator responded! I placed it back on cold, re-installed the actuator and while moving the temp lever with my other hand I could feel the actuator working. You can get your fingers over the top to feel the shaft turning. Then I read further and found the comment about low refrigerant. I had tested the temp when I first had Jiffy Lube recharge it 42.5F on pass side and @ 45.5 on drivers side. So I checked again only 64.4F on the pass side. Feels cold to the bare hand but that's much less than when they first recharged it. It's going back to Jiffy Lube tomorrow or the next day. IF I can get them to evacuate and recharge it again at no cost and that fixes it I'll post. So the moral? If you can check the temp. it should be 45-55 degrees. If not you may want to find an AC repair/specialist so they can also check for leaks. Here in Florida they are on most corners and will test it for free..
